The Art of Rebuilding: Play Therapy for families navigating divorce.

 Explore how play therapy can support children and families through one of life's challenging transitions.  This dynamic training dives into the emotional impact of divorce on children, development considerations across age groups, and the play therapy theories and interventions that foster healing, safety and connection.
   

Attendees must register for both Day 1 (June 10) and Day 2 (June 11) as day 2 builds upon the first day.

Integrating Native American Culture in Play Therapy Practice

Presented by:  Tina Nordaune, MS, LCSW, CTS, CFRC, EPT/C RPT-S and Amy Ham, MS, LPC/LPCC-S,   

Explore the integration of Native American cultural values and traditions within play therapy practices.  Develop culturally responsive skills to support Native American children and families by incorporating storytelling, symbolism connection to nature and community centered values.  Learn about the impact of historical and intergenerational trauma, honoring family community relationships, and promoting emotional expression and healing through culturally respectful play therapy approaches.

June 9 - Foundations in Play Therapy: Child Centered Play Therapy

Presented by:  Angela Cavett, PH.D, LPC, RPT-S

 Child Centered Play Therapy is an ideal approach for those first implementing play therapy as it provides the relationship between therapist and child to hear their worlds through the language of play. This workshop is an introduction to Child Centered Play Therapy for mental health providers. Child Centered Play Therapy is a nondirective theory that guides interactions with the child in the play therapy room. Child Centered Play Therapy allows novice play therapists insight into children’s worlds through the language of play. This workshop will provide the principles and objectives of CCPT. Themes in play will be discussed. Interactive and experiential learning will allow for practice of child centered skills including limit setting, tracking, and reflecting

COVID-19 Disclaimer

NDAPT is actively monitoring the incidence of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in our region. We have been asked how COVID-19 may impact our 2023 conference. NDAPT is following guidance from the ND Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding large gatherings.

At this time, the 2022 NDAPT Play Therapy Conference will take place as planned. However, if you are sick or feeling you are getting sick, we ask that you please stay home. The CDC recommends that people in high-risk groups consult with their healthcare provider about attending any large gathering.

If you do choose to attend, please keep in mind the CDC recommendations on how to keep yourself and others healthy: 

  • Wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth to help protect yourself and others.
  • Stay 6 feet apart from others who don’t live with you.
  • Get a COVID-19 vaccine when it is available to you.
  • Avoid crowds and poorly ventilated indoor spaces.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water. Use hand sanitizer if soap and water aren’t available.
