Sand therapy is an expansive therapeutic approach with the ability to reach across the life span. It is a psychotherapeutic tool that utilizes natural processing in an in-depth and creative way that brings light to increased awareness and insight. This 2-day training includes hands-on tools and practice while learning the principles of Sand Tray play therapy including sand and miniatures. This training encompasses the use of Sand Tray across multiple therapeutic approaches and includes the integration of play themes, metaphors and symbols providing many useful elements for providers to use in their work with youth, adults and families.

Andrea has worked with children and families for the last 30 years. She has focused her career on helping others find their paths towards healing and growth while also specializing in trauma therapy, play therapy, and victims of abuse. Andrea has a private practice in Great Falls, Montana and has a passion for those in North Dakota where she lived and worked for over 12 years. Andrea provides supervision and consultation for many play therapists working towards their RPT as well as professionals seeking licensure. She is the current President of the North Dakota Chapter for Play Therapy and worked with NDAPT for the last 14 years assisting with conferences, services, training and promoting play therapy. She also serves on 2 committee’s for Play Therapy at the National Level and works hard to bring rural perspectives into focus.

This session will review the 2022 APT Code of Ethics as well as cover legal issues play therapists may encounter such as receiving a subpoena, developing a court policy, and preparing to testify in court.

NDAPT is actively monitoring the incidence of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in our region. We have been asked how COVID-19 may impact our 2023 conference. NDAPT is following guidance from the ND Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding large gatherings.
At this time, the 2022 NDAPT Play Therapy Conference will take place as planned. However, if you are sick or feeling you are getting sick, we ask that you please stay home. The CDC recommends that people in high-risk groups consult with their healthcare provider about attending any large gathering.
